Grace in salvation
The most important demonstration of the grace of God is in salvation and the person of Jesus Christ.
(John 1:17 NIV) For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Grace came through Jesus Christ because with Jesus’ death on the cross, salvation is no longer about whether we deserved it or not. God saved us even though we do not deserve it.
(Rom 5:8 NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(Titus 3:4-5 NIV) But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, {5} he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
(Eph 2:8-9 NIV) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– {9} not by works, so that no one can boast.
Grace in times of need
We may not have what it takes to solve our problems but God is a gracious God. He gives us grace that is sufficient to deal with our problems.
(Heb 4:16 NIV) Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
(2 Cor 12:7-9 NIV) To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. {8} Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. {9} But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Grace in blessings
The gracious God also blesses us beyond what we deserve.
(John 1:16 NIV) From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.
Grace in ministry
We must not think that the success of our ministry is due to our own efforts alone. God is the One who grants us grace in ministry so that we can be productive.
(Acts 4:33 NIV) With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.
(Acts 6:8 NIV) Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people.
(Acts 11:21-23 NIV) The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord. {22} News of this reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. {23} When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.
(Rom 12:6 NIV) We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.
