How to have beautiful eyes

Beautiful in God's eyes
Seriousness of controlling our eyes (Mat 5:29 NIV)  If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. Jesus emphasized that we can be drawn into sin by our eyes. And the sins of the eyes can be so serious that we need to take drastic actions. He even used a hyperbole of gouging our eyes out to avoid sin. Avoiding lustful glances (Mat 5:28 NIV)  But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (2 Pet 2:14 NIV)  With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the…

Gift of Hospitality

Spiritual Gifts
HOSPITALITY It is the special ability to provide open housing and warm welcome for those in need of food or lodging. Inviting people to come to our house occasionally is only the mildest way to show hospitality. Those who want to exercise the gift in a greater degree may even consider opening their house for cell or accepting someone into the house on a medium term basis if that person is without a home. Hospitality is as much a Christian role as it is a spiritual gift. Romans 12:13 (NIV) Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. 1 Peter 4:911 (NIV) Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its…

What is the Fruit of the Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit
What is this fruit of the Spirit? There are several references to the fruit of the Spirit in the Bible. (Gal 5:22-23 NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, {23} gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Col 3:12 NIV) Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (2 Pet 1:5-8 NIV) For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; {6} and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; {7} and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. {8} For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being…

Focus of ministry

Focus of ministry

Ministry empowerment
Ministry is ultimately about saving souls (Luke 4:18 NIV)  "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, This was how Jesus summarized His ministry. It is about saving souls. Our ministry focus should be no different from our Lord Jesus. (1 Tim 2:3-4 NIV)  This is good, and pleases God our Savior, {4} who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. Ministry is servanthood (Phil 2:5-7 NIV)  Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: {6} Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality…

Manoah’s wife’s barrenness

Manoah’s wife’s barrenness

Barrenness to Fruitfulness
We all know Samson as a great Bible hero who had tremendous strength. His mother, whose name we do not even know, was also a barren woman. We know her only as Manoah’s wife. (Judg 13:2-5 NIV)  A certain man of Zorah, named Manoah, from the clan of the Danites, had a wife who was sterile and remained childless. {3} The angel of the LORD appeared to her and said, "You are sterile and childless, but you are going to conceive and have a son. {4} Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean, {5} because you will conceive and give birth to a son. No razor may be used on his head, because the boy is…

Spiritual warfare and the Christian life

Spiritual warfare
Satan, the deceiver Genesis 3:17 (NIV) Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" 2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'" 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6 When the…

Importance of Water Baptism

Growing up spiritually
Discussion: Who has already been water baptized? Why did you want to be water baptized? Water baptism is a commandment from our Lord Jesus. (Mat 28:19-20 NIV)  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, {20} and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Water baptism is a means to publicly declare our faith in Jesus. (Mark 1:4-5 NIV)  And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. {5} The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins,…

Serving God

Growing up spiritually
Why serve God? We were created to serve Him Eph 2:10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. Hebrews 13:20-21  Now may the God of peace (who brought again our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant)  (21)  make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Even Jesus the Son of God realized that His mission on earth was to serve His Father. (John 17:4)  I have glorified You upon the earth. I have finished the work which…
